

Introduction
Zyft is an Australian e-commerce company that enables consumers to compare prices in real-time from over 50,000 Australian retailers. Consumers can either use the mobile phone app or the Chrome web browser extension to instantly compare prices and start saving when shopping on-line or in-store.
Background
Founded in 2018, Zyft identified a market opportunity to utilise data science algorithms to perform real-time price comparison of products between on-line retailers and provide consumers with a choice of retailers at the best price.
Challenges Faced
In 2024, Zyft reached critical user mass, gaining interest from retailers and manufacturers to access their consumer and pricing data to supplement their own data and analytics capability. Generating millions of data points every day, Zyft reached out to Klout Analytics to explore how to turn this vast dataset into a new revenue stream while not distracting in-house resources from delivering on the features roadmap.
Approach
Zyft engaged Klout Analytics to design and develop a data platform and data app that could support current and future requirements for Retailers and Manufacturers to intuitively analyse and consume millions of data points in a cost effective manner.
During the initial project phase, Zyft contacted several retailers to better understand user personas and typical usage patterns that could be translated into requirements when developing the Zyft Insights data app.
Simultaneously, the technical solution design and cost estimation was carried out using the standard Klout Analytics data platform as the foundation.
This process also included the sourcing and selection of a 3rd party bespoke reporting technology to meet the specific requirements and economic constraints of developing and hosting a data product serving complex queries against millions of data points.
Once the technical architecture and solution design was agreed, the Zyft data team worked closely with Klout Analytics to provision the technical environment and configure connectivity and system security in line with company standards and policies.
From this point onward Klout Analytics took over the development, deployment, and management of the data platform and data app freeing up Zyft resources to continue developing new feature releases.
Klout Analytics Solution
The Klout Analytics data platform is designed to scale to Petabytes of data delivered as a Managed Service in a cost-effective manner. In delivering the Zyft Insight solution the data platform ingests more than 1 billion records per year, and processes 100's of millions of records per week all while providing sub-second query performance to end-users.
Utilising Klout Analytics’ standard technology stack and design patterns for data ingestion, data storage, data processing, and data security, the team was able to develop the solution in just under 8 weeks. In addition, Klout Analytics managed a 3rd party technology vendor who developed the bespoke Zyft Insight Dashboard as part of the overall solution.
Results and Impacts
The addition of Zyft Insights has provided the business with an opportunity to pursue new revenue streams while working closer with retailers and manufacturers to provide valuable data and insights to support their decision-making process.
Putting a spotlight on the vast datasets available also provides an opportunity for Zyft to garner deeper insights into how its app is used by consumers to continuously improve on features and functions to grow adoption and usage of its app.
